“Remember, Remember the Fifth of November”: A Guy Fawkes Party: 11/5

Leila Shira & DJ Ceremony present:
“Remember, Remember the Fifth of November”
A Guy Fawkes Party in Brooklyn

Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at The Bell House.

Facebook invite.

“Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason, and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.”

In London, 1605, Guy Fawkes and his band of conspirators were foiled in their attempt to blow up English Parliament. Ever since, England has celebrated Guy Fawkes Day with bonfires, fireworks, and late-night revelry. This November 5th, we bring the holiday to Brooklyn. Although there will be no bonfire (it is inside a bar, after all), there will be late-night revelry, including:

• DJ Ceremony (“Oscillate Wildly”, “House of Commons”) spins the best British music all night
• Free British snacks from the Chip Shop
• Pimm’s cups, G&Ts, and other British bevvies
• For the first 60 guests, gift bags from Penguin Group including Shakespeare plays and other classic British books
• Giveaways from the British music magazine Q

…and everything else you need to celebrate England’s best holiday in style. And it’s free entry! In the front room of the Bell House from 10pm on. Bring your best British accent (real or fake). V for Vendetta masks optional.

• 21 & up. Free.

Saturday, November 5th, 2011 — 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Venue: The Bell House — 149 7th Street
