Leah Umansky is a New Yorker by birth, a teacher by choice, and an anglophile at heart. She earned her MFA in Poetry at Sarah Lawrence College and is a recipient of a 1-week fellowship at the Norman Mailer Writers Colony. She is a contributing writer for both BOMB Magazine’s BOMBLOG and for The Rumpus. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in: Cream City Review, Barrow Street, BOMB Magazine’s BOMBLOG feature: “Word Choice,” The Paterson Literary Review, Magma Poetry (UK), Harper Palate, LIPS Magazine, and the anthology: The American Voice: Whitman, Williams and Ginsberg.

DJ Ceremony has been playing in New York City since 2001, at both public & private events. He is the producer & DJ of “Oscillate Wildly”, a monthly Smiths & Morrissey tribute dance party in the Lower East Side, among other events. His sound often culls from Postpunk, Glam Rock, 80s, Northern Songs, Indie, Britpop, Analog Retro, Shoegaze, Manchester, Soul, Minneapolis Sound, Dreampop, & British Invasion.

The “kick-off” poets are:

1. Mary Flanagan is a poet based in NYC and NH. Her poems have appeared in Barrow Street, The Iowa Review, Saranac Review, MUDFISH, and other venues. She is a fan of German board games and makes computer-driven works of art. http://www.maryflanagan.com/

2. Bianca Stone is the author of the chapbook “Someone Else’s Wedding Vows” from Argos Books, and has been published in, or forthcoming in, such magazines as, Conduit, Agriculture Reader, and Best American Poetry 2010. Her blog is called Poetry Comics http://whoisthatsupposedtobe.blogspot.com/. She lives in Brooklyn with the poet Ben Pease and their cat, Commander Riker.

3. Amy Lawless is author of Noctis Licentia (Black Maze Books 2008) and a four poem pamphlet from Greying Ghost Press. Her poems have been recently published or are forthcoming in No, Dear, Leveler, LIT, Catch Up Louisville, Forklift, Ohio, and Hail Satan! Contemporary Writing and Images from Hell. She has been named a 2011 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow.
